As a Daily Bread Food Bank volunteer, you play an essential role in our efforts to end hunger in Toronto. Every day, incredible volunteers sort food, pack boxes, and so much more, so that we can help thousands of people across the city access the food they need.
Today, we’d like to introduce you to Niah, a 16-year-old student in Toronto. Niah started volunteering at Daily Bread almost a year ago to help with the increased demand during the holiday season.
During her time as a volunteer, she’s participated in door-to-door food donation pick-ups and drive-throughs, sorted food on-site and more. As a first-time volunteer, Niah found it eye-opening and rewarding to support the urgent need for food in this way.
“Volunteering at Daily Bread Food Bank helped me realize the impact of inflation on the community. People around me were having a hard time making ends meet, sacrificing food for rent and other essentials,” says Niah.
As a volunteer, Niah got to help support the urgent needs in her community, while making new friends, and earning community service hours that will help towards her graduation requirements. It’s a win-win!
Inspired by the vital role she can play in fighting hunger, Niah plans to continue volunteering with Daily Bread for a long time.
Thank you, Niah, for your dedication and commitment to making a positive impact in our community!
