As we begin a new year, we wanted to share with you a short video message of thanks, from Neil Hetherington, CEO, Daily Bread Food Bank. We are so incredibly grateful for your support in 2023.
While we’ve been in the news a lot, one stat that stands out the most is that one in ten Torontonians are now accessing food banks. Thanks to you, we’ve been able to keep up with the skyrocketing demand for emergency food support.
If current trends continue, we are on track to exceed three million food bank visits in 2024 – for the first time ever. Before COVID-19, we spent $1.5 million each year on purchased food. We now spend more than that each month.
We hope you will continue to stand with us in the fight against hunger in our city. We can’t do it without you.
