Growing up, Taylor Lukas did not experience food insecurity first-hand but was keenly aware that there were families in the community who face hunger daily and must choose between buying groceries, paying the rent , or purchasing other basic needs.
After learning about Daily Bread Food Bank three years ago during the annual Thanksgiving Campaign, Taylor was inspired to become a monthly donor – apportioning part of her monthly grocery budget to support the ever-growing need in our city.
Taylor believes that food is not a luxury and that people should have access to the food they need. While completing their Wills after their daughter’s birth, Taylor and her husband decided they wanted to leave a legacy and make a long-lasting impact by supporting some of their favorite charities. By including a gift to Daily Bread Food Bank in her Will, Taylor will help establish a safety net for tens of thousands of neighbours who may need our support in the years to come.
“Donating to Daily Bread Food Bank is the best way to help others in Toronto access food. Daily Bread supports a number of food and meal programs across the city. Their model works and helps get food on people’s plates. By including Daily Bread in my Will, I will make a lasting impact and set an example of caring for others for our daughter.” Taylor Lukas
We are deeply grateful to Taylor, for including Daily Bread Food Bank in her Will and for helping to establish a safety net for tens of thousands of neighbours who may need our support in the years to come.
