Meet Cassie, our Senior Development Officer, Corporate and Community Partnerships at Daily Bread Food Bank. She’s passionate about connecting with the community in support of our mission and helping facilitate emergency food access for those who need it.
When did you join the team?
I started working at Daily Bread in June 2022. I just celebrated my 2-year anniversary!
What does a typical day look like in your role?
I work with a variety of different donors, like schools, faith-based organizations and corporate partners, and provide them with the support they need to execute a successful fundraiser or food drive. This can look very different depending on the type of event. Sometimes I might be on a golf course helping to collect donations, marching in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade or setting up at the CPKC Holiday Train. I also support our Daily Bread hosted events like the Best In Class awards or press conferences. We’re really fortunate to receive support from our community year-round, and it means so much to see that rallying effort firsthand.
What do you enjoy most about the work that you do?
I really enjoy connecting with people, and telling them about our mission and the work we’re doing at Daily Bread. Because I do a lot of event planning, it’s so rewarding to see an event move from an initial concept, then to the execution stage, and finally having it happen in real time. When I support a food drive for example, I’m so grateful to see the impact of that fundraising, and knowing that the food collected will be distributed to people who are experiencing food insecurity.
What has been your greatest professional achievement since joining the Daily Bread team?
Over the last year, my team and I made a goal of raising $5 million through events and fundraisers. I’m proud to say we hit that goal! I love working at Daily Bread because no two days look alike, and as a team we’ve been able to adapt and grow, in order to meet the needs of the community.
What are your hobbies?
I’m a baker and cake decorator (you can check out some of her creations on Instagram at @adashofcassie). I’m self-taught and would always watch the Food Network after school as a kid. I’m also an avid crafter, and make key chains, bookmarks and cups. In the last couple of years, I wanted to try a lot of new things that I hadn’t before, so I’ve since joined a softball team, and attend F45 and spin classes!
What is your favourite movie?
I could rewatch The Devil Wears Prada all the time and never get tired of it. It’s my go-to! But I am more of a TV person than a movie person – and the show I can always rewatch is How I Met Your Mother.
What’s a fun fact about you?
I boarded down the side of an active volcano in Nicaragua!
Thank you, Cassie, for being such an integral part of the team for the last two years! We’re so grateful for your positive energy and care for others!
