Over the years, Canadians have come to know and love the annual Smile Cookie campaign at Tim Hortons. Raising over $111 million in its history, 2023 was the first year that Tim Hortons decided to do a holiday iteration – a white chocolate chip sugar cookie packed with green and red sprinkles, featuring a hand-decorated smile.
“For over 25 years, our guests have enjoyed rallying with us during every Smile Cookie campaign to raise important funds for charities and community groups close to home,” said Hope Bagozzi, Chief Marketing Officer, Tim Hortons.
Daily Bread Food Bank was chosen as one of the recipients of the proceeds from Holiday Smile Cookies purchased between November 13 and 19.
At the launch of the Holiday Smile Cookie campaign, Neil Hetherington, CEO, Daily Bread Food Bank, acknowledged that this support was coming at a time of significant need in the city. “We’re so grateful for the support of this campaign. It means that we can help those in the city who are facing food insecurity, and it is something that is so needed at this time. In the last year there have been 2.53 million client visits to Toronto food banks – a 51% increase compared to the year prior. On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff, and each of the volunteers, I want to say thank you.”
There were 346 locations whose sales supported Daily Bread, and thanks to the generosity and support of the community, we were presented with a $144,808.83 donation from Tim Hortons. As an organization we are grateful to everyone who helped to spread kindness and raise funds to support those facing hunger this holiday season, and to Tim Hortons for their partnership.
