In 2019, our long-time partners at Purolator launched the first ever Toronto Red Bag campaign, as part of their larger Tackle Hunger initiative to benefit Daily Bread.
This year, as the need for food increased significantly due to COVID-19, Purolator expanded the campaign.
With a goal of raising 10,000 lbs of food, volunteers delivered red bags to homes in three neighbourhoods; the Danforth, Annex, and Roncesvalles.
Residents are asked to fill the bag with nutritious, non-perishable items, and leave them at their front door to be picked up by volunteer Purolator drivers and Daily Bread Volunteers the following weekend.
This year, we are proud to announce that Torontonians donated over 35,000 lbs of food to Daily Bread Food Bank – more than five times the amount of food collected last year – to help support our neighbours in need during these challenging times.
On behalf of the team at Daily Bread Food Bank, and everyone we serve, thank you Purolator! We are so grateful to have such incredible partners in our fight to end hunger.
