Increasing Food Storage with the help of the Rogers Centre

Last Spring, the Rogers Centre became Canada’s largest pantry, housing 10 million pounds of food when Rogers partnered with Food Banks Canada through our Step Up to the Plate initiative.

Through the incredible work of their employee and community volunteers who donated more than 20,000 hours of their time they were able to fill and transport 400,000 hampers across the country to provide 8,000,000 meals to Canadians living with food insecurity!

Now a year later, as Daily Bread member food banks have seen an average of 105,000 client visits each month which is a 51% increase compared to the year prior our friends at Rogers have stepped up to the plate to support our community! By opening their doors, we will be able to store an additional 300,000 lbs of food that will be distributed across Toronto!

Not only have they enabled us to store more food, but at our Spring Drive-Thru they helped us reach our goal of collecting 25,000 in a single day by allowing the public to drop food off food donations at the Rogers Centre if they couldn’t make it to our 191 New Toronto Street warehouse.

We want to give a very special THANK YOU to our friends at Rogers – we couldn’t do what we do without our incredible partners in our fight against hunger!
