Give back through the Purolator Red Bag campaign

On Saturday, September 14, a legion of volunteers blanketed multiple Toronto neighbourhoods with 25,000 empty red bags, ready to be filled with food for people experiencing hunger this Thanksgiving season.

This is the sixth annual Purolator Red Bag Campaign in support of Daily Bread Food Bank, and part of Purolator’s nationwide Tackle Hunger program.

This year we’re targeting 50,000 pounds in food donations so we can help set Thanksgiving tables at a time when food-bank use has catapulted to record highs.

Here’s how the campaign works:

  • Residents in Roncesvalles, the Annex, Danforth/Riverdale, East York, Broadview, Corso Italia, Davisville Village, Dufferin Grove, Leaside, or St. Clair West received empty Purolator Red Bags on their doorsteps on September 14 thanks to our amazing volunteers
  • If you received a bag, please fill it up with some of our most needed non-perishable items: canned fish/fruits/veggies/tomatoes, oatmeal and nut butters
  • If you miss our pickup deadline, you can drop off your bag with non-perishable food items at your nearest fire hall

Our deepest thanks to Purolator for their longstanding commitment to the fight against hunger, and to our wonderful volunteers for dedicating their time and efforts to making this campaign a success.

With your help, we’ll be able to fill our warehouse and ensure that everyone has access to the food they need this Thanksgiving.
