On June 9-10, 2019, Feed Ontario held its first ever Feed Ontario Together Symposium in Toronto, bringing together members from the food bank network to collaborate, share ideas and possible solutions and to celebrate the amazing work the network has accomplished over the last year. “This symposium [was] about recognizing that we are far stronger and more effective when we work together towards our common goal of ending poverty and hunger in Ontario.” (via Feed Ontario).
For the last seven years, Feed Ontario (previously Ontario Association of Food Banks) has presented three Awards of Excellence to food banks across the province recognizing the amazing work they are doing in their communities. These awards recognize member organizations that have demonstrated innovation, advocacy and leadership over the last year. Daily Bread Food Bank was honored to receive the Leadership Award in recognition of our Summer Produce Markets, which launched as a pilot project in July 2018, and which we will be bringing back this year.
Thank you Feed Ontario, for recognizing our efforts to end hunger!
We would also like to extend our congratulations to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region for receiving the Innovator Award for their development, community engagement and service. And to Project SHARE for receiving the Advocacy Award for being a strong and consistent advocate for hunger-relief in their community.
A special thank you to Daily Bread Board Member, Christine Yip, for accepting the Leadership Award on our behalf.
