Airbnb believes in sharing their successes, especially with the communities that Airbnb Hosts, call home. That’s why they created the Community Fund, to distribute $100 million over 10 years to organizations that are strengthening communities around the world, including $10 million to be distributed this year.
The theme for their inaugural year was COVID-19 relief, economic empowerment, and education. Last month Airbnb and their partners at GlobalGiving shared the first-round grant recipients of the Community Fund which included over 150 organizations from more than 40 countries and six continents working to meet the unprecedented needs brought on by the pandemic.
Daily Bread Food Bank is honoured to have been chosen as a Canadian recipient of this grant.
“Airbnb and GlobalGiving are excited to name Daily Bread Food Bank as a grant recipient from the Airbnb Community Fund. Airbnb’s Host Advisory Board worked with GlobalGiving to identify organizations addressing COVID-19 relief, economic empowerment, and education. Airbnb Community Leaders and Host Clubs around the world are proud to be able to support the organizations they believe have the greatest impact in their communities.” – Michael Gale, Director of Programs, GlobalGiving
Thank you, Airbnb and GlobalGiving, for supporting our mission to eliminate food insecurity and advocate for solutions to end poverty. We couldn’t do this work without our incredible local and global community of change makers that continue to ensure everyone’s right to food is realized.
