On April 16, Daily Bread Food Bank, in partnership with LAMP Community Health Centre and Second Harvest, co-hosted the Etobicoke-Lakeshore Federal Candidates’ Debate.
This important event gave community members the chance to hear directly from their candidates on how they plan to address some of the most urgent challenges facing Canadians today. Elections Canada also came on-site to provide attendees with materials on how to vote.
Three Etobicoke-Lakeshore candidates participated in the debate: James Maloney, Liberal Party; Bernard Trottier, Conservative Party; and Cory Wagar, New Democratic Party.
They spoke before an engaged audience of more than 160 people.
Neil Hetherington, CEO of Daily Bread Food Bank, kicked off the debate and Kat Eschner, lead researcher and segment producer at TVO Today, served as the moderator.
The debate focused on five key issues: the cost-of-living crisis, a strong social safety net to protect vulnerable people and workers, housing, health care, and immigration.
To hear what the candidates had to say on the issues that matter most to Ontarians, watch the full recording of the debate below:
