For the second year in a row, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport partnered with Daily Bread Food Bank for a month-long donation drive aimed at addressing food insecurity in Toronto. This incredible campaign raised $26,582 in November, making a significant impact on the lives of families facing hunger during the holiday season.
The initiative called on passengers, employees, and the local community to donate through physical and digital signage at designated stations around the airport. With every dollar donated equaling one meal, the funds raised will provide over 26,000 meals for the more than one in ten Torontonians who rely on food banks for emergency food access.
Neil Hetherington, CEO, Daily Bread Food Bank, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support: “This campaign demonstrates the power of community. The generosity shown by Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and its patrons will help ensure that more Torontonians have access to nutritious meals this holiday season.”
Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport’s commitment to social responsibility is exemplified by this initiative, reflecting the airport’s dedication to supporting local organizations and inspiring a spirit of kindness and giving among travelers and staff alike.
The funds raised will directly support Daily Bread Food Bank’s vital programs, which are increasingly critical amidst growing demand. According to the Who’s Hungry 2024 report, over 3.49 million food bank visits were recorded last year, nearly 1 million more than the year prior.
We’re facing unprecedented levels of need. But together, we can help ensure that no one goes hungry this holiday season. Click here to donate and make a difference today.
