Beyond our ‘wildest dreams’: Taylor Swift Way auction raises over $216,000

We don’t know about you, but today we’re feeling 22 very special reasons to be grateful.

The Taylor Swift Way auction — which auctioned off 22 ceremonial street signs created in partnership by the City of Toronto and Rogers — closed yesterday, and the final numbers are in: It raised a grand total of $216,842.96 for Daily Bread Food Bank’s emergency food services.

This monetary value includes $103,842.96 from winning bidders and Rogers rounding up its matching contribution to $113,000, a nod to Taylor’s favourite number, 13.

Swifties bid throughout the month of November, vying for Taylor Swift Way street sign toppers that adorned Queen Street West, John Street and Blue Jays Way signs, as well as a one-of-a-kind 1 Taylor Swift Way sign that hung at Rogers Centre during the Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour.

We are deeply grateful to the City of Toronto and Rogers for donating these invaluable signs to Daily Bread. At a time when more than one in 10 Torontonians is making use of food banks, the funds raised through this auction will go towards ensuring that neighbours in need of emergency food support always have a place to turn.

And a huge thank you to the community of Swifties who bid on these collectibles. Not only do the highest bidders get to take home a piece of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour history, they also helped support the fight to end hunger in Toronto.
