When COVID-19 hit and Canadians all across the country began to feel the impacts, Google Canada wanted to find a way to give back to their local communities.
Recognizing that food access is an essential part of building healthy communities, Google donated $52,000 from their Community Grants program, funded by Google.org,to our Food Fund. This grant provided 52,000 meals to Torontonians experiencing poverty and food insecurity in the most challenging of times.
This wasn’t the first time Google has supported Daily Bread’s mission to end hunger. Over the past nine years Google has donated enough money to provide over 210,000 meals to those in need.
However, their support has not ended there! During Canada’s Small Business Week, Daily Bread was featured in a video made in partnership with our friends at Google! The video featured some of our incredible volunteers and highlighted the important work being done to support local communities.
“As COVID-19 hit, we knew it was critical for our Canadian sites to give back to the communities in which we live and work. We have long admired the work the Daily Bread Food Bank does to tackle food insecurity. And during the pandemic, this became even more essential. Thank you for continually providing meals to those in need.”
